When Sira arrived we doubt if she would get ahead … She weighed just under 16 kilos, and had enormous bleeding due to her Leishmania. We gave it a very aggressive treatment to combat it and we managed to stabilize her. She needs kidney and Leishmania medication for life, but she can lead a completely normal life. The strength of this little girl is incredible, as she never gave up and has given us all a huge life lesson.
