Aquí su historia y nuestra historia…

Muchos de vosotros no la conocéis, Gisela es la fundadora de la Fundacion Benjamin Mehnert.

Benjamín era el nombre de uno sus perros rescatados. Él, toco su corazón y en su honor puso su nombre a nuestra fundación. Y no, Benjamín no era un galgo.

Su historia con los galgos empieza tras un viaje a España junto a su hermana. Fue voluntaria de un refugio de animales, donde acudió al rescate de un galgo. La galga, llamada Bianca, era positiva a Leishmania, enfermedad poco conocida en aquel momento, y sus posibilidades de ser adoptada eran casi nulas. Gisela la adoptó, y fue entonces cuando fascinada por lo increible que era y sorprendida por por la realidad del galgo en nuestro país, quiso poner su granito de arena. Junto a la ayuda de su madre, compraron un terreno donde poco a poco fueron dando más y más cabida a galgos y otros animales…

Hoy en día la Fundacion ha crecido muchísimo, y Gisela sigue con su maravillosa labor en defensa de estos animales. Su granito de arena, ahora es una montaña. Y gracias a ella, y a su implicación, hoy día contamos con 22 asociaciones con las que colaboramos para encontrar familia a cada uno de nuestros galgos.

Nunca podremos agradecerte lo suficiente todo lo que haces por nosotros y sobretodo por ellos.

Here her story and our story…

Many of you do not know her, Gisela is the founder of the Benjamin Mehnert Foundation.

Benjamin was the name of one of her dogs rescued from her. He touched her heart and in her honor named our foundation after him. And no, Benjamin was not a greyhound.

Her story with the greyhounds begins after a trip to Spain with his sister. She volunteered at an animal shelter, where she came to the rescue of a greyhound. The greyhound, named Bianca, was positive for Leishmania, a little-known disease at the time, and her chances of being adopted were slim to none. Gisela adopted her, and it was then that she was fascinated by how incredible she was and surprised by the reality of the greyhound in our country, she wanted to do her bit. Together with the help of her mother, they bought a piece of land where little by little they gave more and more space to greyhounds and other animals…

Today the Foundation has grown a lot, and Gisela continues with her wonderful work in defense of these animals. Her grain of sand is now a mountain. And thanks to her, and her involvement, today we have 22 associations with which we collaborate to find a family for each of our greyhounds.
