ALFRED

Alfred is a loving but grumpy grandfather, actually a very funny and affectionate dog, but the shelter environment doesn’t suit him.

Here at the shelter he has become a fearful old man who sometimes fights back with his little teeth. But when he trusts someone, it’s just lovely. When volunteers take him out of the enclosure to spend time with him in the yard, you can see this little guy blossom and begin to glow. He also enjoys walks very much and, in typical Podengo style, loves to dig and jump after mice.

What this grandfather needs more than anything is a family to give him peace of mind. He would be an ideal candidate for leisurely walks and can live with other dogs, although these should not be extremely energetic, as our Alfred is no longer a fast youngster. But that doesn’t mean it’s old and rusty or requires special care. He can still enjoy adventures befitting an older man and wishes to do so.

Alfred is almost 12 years old. We know that due to his breed, with its peculiarities, and his age, it will not be easy to find a home for grandpa, but we look forward to senior dog lovers. Alfred is a typical representative of his breed: affectionate, a bit stubborn, with a still active hunting instinct, and would be willing to sell his grandmother for a treat.

The winters in the shelter are very harsh and your old bones will have a hard time. We especially ache with each passing day at the shelter for the older dogs. Who has a free place for the charming and grumpy Mr. Alfred?
