Today we want to talk about canine filariasis.

Today we want to talk about canine filariasis, a disease caused by the parasite Dirofilaria immitis that could seriously affect dog´s heart. This disease is not transmitted from dog to dog since the transmitter is the mosquito and the increase in infections coincides with the warm season of the year. Once the dog is infected, it can take up to 7 months to show symptoms of the disease and these could be fatal. There are ways of prevention by applying oral or injectable dewormers. If you want to have more information about filariosis or another disease, ask our vets, we will be happy to answer all your questions.
