💛 A brave podenco that overcame pain

Achilles is a podenco that arrived at the Foundation after living one of the cruelest experiences we can imagine: he had a wire wrapped around his leg, which had caused a rupture of the Achilles tendon and possible neurological injuries due to the pulls. He was injured, infected and could not hold his stool or urine.

He underwent surgery: the tendon was sutured with a special technique and a screw was placed to immobilize the tarsus and allow healing. From there began a long and delicate recovery process, with multiple revisions, rehabilitation and complementary treatments.
During the following months, Achilles progressively improved, began to support the limb and, although his neurological injury caused incontinence problems, he remained stable and with a noble and strong attitude.

In the summer of 2025 he was provisionally discharged, and shortly after, in September, we were able to give the best news: Achilles received the definitive medical discharge 🙌. He has successfully passed every stage of his recovery and today he is in perfect condition, ready to start a new life.

Aquiles is a brave, strong and very noble dog. Thanks to the support of his godparents, he has been able to receive all the veterinary care and affection he needed to get this far. Now he only needs two things: to continue to have support for his care, and the most important thing… a family that loves him forever 🧡
