A menudo solemos contaros las urgencias o los casos más graves que nos llegan, pero lo cierto es que nuestro hospital está lleno de pacientes y que a muchos de ellos no los conocéis. Actualmente en el hospital tenemos 34 perros ingresados, más los pacientes temporales (castraciones, pequeñas curas..) La mayoría de ellos son pacientes de trauma, o enfermedades patológicas. Imaginad todo lo que esto supone en cuanto a costes de cirugías, medicamentos, material clínico, y rehabilitación…

Ahora, es el momento de que conozcáis a algunos de los últimos pacientes que han ido llegando…
TRAVIS: Llegó con una deformidad en su pata tras una fractura antigua que soldó mal. Fue intervenido y se le colocó una placa para alinear los huesos. Actualmente sigue sin apoyar su pata y su herida no ha cicatrizado del todo.
HELGUE: Llegó en julio, pero dos meses después empezó a mostrar síntomas de que algo no iba bien. Tenia una hernia cervical que le dificultaba el movimiento y perdió el equilibrio. Ha sido intervenida en dos ocasiones. Lleva meses en rehabilitación y hace tan solo unas semanas empezó por fin a mostrar algo de mejoría…
BRUNO: Este pequeñín llegó atropellado con fractura de cadera y muchísimo dolor, tanto que no nos dejaba manipularle, y realizarle curas era toda una aventura. Ha estado más de dos semanas sin apenas moverse y ya por fin estos últimos días ha comenzado a levantarse y a caminar un poco.
ODDIE: Procedía de otra asociación y finalmente tras, semanas ingresado con nosotros, lo acogimos como parte de nuestra familia. Tiene Leishmania e insuficiencia renal, además de una inflamación ocular. En las últimas semanas también ha tenido alopecias en varias zonas de su cuerpo, pero ya está empezando a mejorar.
RUFINO: De los últimos pacientes en llegar. Tiene fractura de carpo y una infección ósea. Está en tratamiento para la infección y estamos valorando como evoluciona…
PICARD: Llegó en octubre y fue positivo a filaria. Hace unas semanas le mordieron y tuvo heridas bastantes profundas en su pata. Perdió mucho tejido, tendones y parte de los músculos. Parece que finalmente no le ha afectado para caminar. Sigue recuperándose hasta que sus heridas terminen de cicatrizar.
KEVIN: Llegó hace poquito con fracturas antiguas de cadera y cabeza del fémur. También tenia una obstrucción en el recto y tuvimos que ponerle tratamiento para evacuar, pero debido a la fractura de la cadera y al estrechamiento anormal que tenia, tuvimos que sedarlo para poder extraerle la acumulación que tenía. Ahora necesita ganar masa muscular, para que podamos operarle.

TRAVIS: He arrived with a deformity in his leg after an old fracture that heeled badly. He was operated on and a plate was placed to align the bones. Currently, he still does not support his leg and his wound has not fully healed.
HELGUE: She arrived in July, but two months later she started showing symptoms that something was wrong. She had a cervical hernia that made movement difficult and she lost his balance. She has been operated twice. She has been in rehab for months and just a few weeks ago he finally started to show some improvement …
BRUNO: This little boy was run over with a broken hip and a lot of pain, so much so that he wouldn’t let us manipulate him, and treating him was quite an adventure. He has been barely moving for more than two weeks and in recent days she has finally started to get up and walk a little.
ODDIE: He came from another association and finally, after weeks in with us, we welcomed him as part of our family. He has Leishmania and kidney failure, plus eye inflammation. In recent weeks he has also had alopecia in various areas of his body, but he is already beginning to improve.
RUFINO: One of the last patients to arrive. He has a carpal fracture and a bone infection. He is being treated for the infection and we are evaluating how he evolves …
PICARD: He arrived in October and was positive for filaria. A few weeks ago he was bitten and had quite deep wounds on his paw. He lost a lot of skin, tendons and part of the muscles. It seems that finally he has not affected him to walk. He keeps recovering until his wounds finish healing.
KEVIN: He came in a little while ago with old hip and femoral head fractures. He also had an obstruction in his rectum and we had to give him treatment to evacuate, but due to the fracture of his hip and the abnormal narrowing he had, we had to sedate him to remove the accumulation he had. Now he needs to gain muscle mass so that we can operate him.
